Where it all began...

At the start of 2020 I had just reduced my hours in the NHS due to burn out, I was pregnant with my second child, and then of course lockdown happened. I found myself (like so many mums) having to take on full-time childcare for my toddler at the expense of my work. It was tough carving out a new routine, coming to terms with a pandemic and learning to sit with a new identity.

Fast-forward to September, and I was 2 weeks overdue. I was doing anything and everything to distract myself from the endless wait, and my nesting instinct went into overdrive. I had already sorted and folded all the baby clothes in my house, so I started buying huge bundles of clothes from marketplaces just to have something to sort, wash and fold all day long. I got to know the pros and cons of different second-hand marketplaces quite well. I also began to think there must be a better way of doing this. Seriously. This is how this business idea started!

Once we'd found our feet with number 2 (who eventually arrived! As they always do!) I revisited the idea. I couldn't stop thinking about it. I would stay awake at night long after my baby had fallen back asleep working it all out. I've always had an entrepreneurial itch, and after the year we'd all had it felt like anything was possible. I also knew that whatever I did, I wanted to be more in control of my work-life balance.

There were many nights talking it all through with my ever patient partner, crowded round spreadsheets and debating efficiencies and costs. There were many elevator pitches to my friends and family and practically anyone who would listen! But before I knew it, we had a name, we were registered as a company, we had the domain name, we were building a website. We were building my dream!
